Hola. Me llamo señor Barile.
I've been teaching Spanish and French (and some Italian) since 1985 in the CT secondary school systems. I've taught Spanish 1-5, French 1-4, and Italian1. I also taught the reading and the philosophy of The Little Prince, in both French and English, from 1991-2009. In addition teaching languages, I taught an EMS-MRT Healthcare/Ambulance course for 5 years. I taught CPR for Healthcare Providers for 3 years as well. I served on my town's ambulance as an EMT for 20 years, as its chief for 4 years, and as its chairman for 12. I've been integrating my love for Spanish with my love for healthcare since 1985 as well. I often translated for Spanish-speaking patients on ambulance calls, and I translated for emergency room staff for other patients when I arrived at the hospital. I've also presented Spanish for Health Care Professionals workshops and seminars to healthcare professionals. I love using technology to enhance instruction and student achievement. I've evenpresented classes and conferences to fellow teachers, on integrating technology into the classroom. use a lots of websites, electronic worksheets, audio and video exercises and recording, web-quests, tutorials, testing, graphing, surveying, etc. Regarding websites, I focus heavily on my website here, on YouTube, and on Quia.com. I also coached Girls Tennis for 13 years. Throughout my career I have received professional development training in AP French, AP Spanish, professional learning community, technology in teaching World Languages, differentiated instruction, home school collaboration, cooperative learning, teaching of reading, interdisciplinary teaching, and others. I am always open to learning myself. I actually enjoy PDs and one of my mantras is to continually improve myself. I look forward to working with you as you learn, and build on your world language skills. With hard work and effort, constant use of my website, and a risk-taking approach to languages, you will go far in this course. |
